On 27 September, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) achieved a major advancement in enhancing access to the mental health liaison team from the emergency department. This accomplishment was made possible through the deployment of Strata Health’s eReferral system.
The digital system offers a seamless and efficient solution for requesting assistance from the mental health liaison team, a critical entity responsible for assessing, supporting, and coordinating patient care for individuals who present to the accident and emergency department and medical assessment unit of the acute trust.
By transitioning to a digital platform, ELHT’s primary objectives are to streamline operations, enhance communication, and reduce the administrative burden on staff through automation. Ultimately, this initiative aims to enhance the overall efficiency of the hospital, ensuring that patients gain faster access to essential mental health assessments and care. Additionally, Strata Health’s advanced reporting capabilities will empower ELHT to identify and implement performance enhancements.
This project, funded by the NHS through the Unified Tech Fund, signifies not only a crucial step towards addressing the increasing demand for mental health services in the ED but also underscores ELHT’s unwavering commitment to providing timely and effective care to individuals seeking mental health support during moments of crisis.
