A heartwarming moment unfolded at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow on 10 September, as a group of five unpaid carers from North Ayrshire were treated to a memorable experience at the 2023 Concert for Caring event. Strata Health UK proudly sponsored the ALLIANCE’s event, making it possible for these dedicated carers to attend at no cost.
Organised by The ALLIANCE, the Concert for Caring was a tribute to the immeasurable contributions of carers in our communities. It served as a heartfelt thank you to those who tirelessly support their friends and family members dealing with illness or disability, helping them live well.
The evening, hosted by the charismatic comedian Des Clarke, was filled with inspirational stories from within the caring community and uplifting musical performances by Callum Beattie and Altered Images.
Kathleen McGuire, Strata Health UK’s Clinical Director Health & Transformation for Scotland, Ireland & Wales, expressed her joy in supporting carers, stating:
“Strata Health is thrilled to pay it forward to carers, recognising and celebrating their invaluable contributions.
“As a committed technology partner of NHS Ayrshire and Arran and North Ayrshire HSCP, we take pride in supporting events like the Concert for Caring, which illuminate the extraordinary and often unsung work of carers.”
The group from North Ayrshire had the pleasure of attending the event alongside NAHSCP Carers Support Worker, Gena Campbell, and North Ayrshire Council Carers Champion, Councillor Nairn McDonald. Councillor McDonald shared his enthusiasm, saying:
“This event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the huge contribution carers make to our lives.”
“The amazing sets by Scottish icon Clare Grogan and the sensational Callum Beattie were out of this world!”
“As an unpaid carer, and as North Ayrshire’s Carers Champion, I look forward to working with our carers to build a better support structure across North Ayrshire.”
Tommy Whitelaw, National Lead for the ALLIANCE Person Centred Voices project, and former carer for his mum Joan, said:
“Music has the incredible power heal us after hard times, and reconnect us to one another. I can’t think of a better way to honour and recognise Scotland’s carers and health and social care staff.”
Strata Health takes great pride in sponsoring this event and being a part of a community that acknowledges and honors the unwavering dedication of carers. For a detailed recap of this special event, check out the ALLIANCE’s blog here.
